DEMOCRACY IN MY SCHOOL

7:35 PM

This is my 4th year studying in Bajothang higher secondary school. There are some changes that I have observed. Most of the changes are minor. This is the major change that I have observed and is one of the best. There are some major changes in the school, like construction of WIFI Park on 2012.Since I started this blog this year, I wanted to share this to you all.
Captains are appointed mainly by teachers. Students too take part in the appointment of captains but it has little effect on the decision made by the teachers. This is all done in the starting of the school. With the introduction of Democracy club in the school this has changed. It i
s now done at the end of the year. The students get to vote for appointment of captains. The nominees for the captain-ship are selected by the teachers. The captains are for the eight houses and two school captains. There will be a boy and a girl captain for each of the houses and headed by two school captains. The nominees for the captain-ship are to deliver a short speech tomorrow (1/10/13).

There are vice captains for each house. They are mainly appointed to look after agriculture garden. The vice captains are appointed by the house parent. As of last year most of the captains are selected form the vice captains. Most of the nominees for the captain-ship are vice captains.

Not in my dreams that i thought that the voting would be like this.We had voting machines, polling officers and everything else. It was same as that of voting in a general election.
Tomorrow (2/10/13) the results will be declared and 18 students would be appointed. From them teachers would choose 2 school captains.

HELLO BROTHER…

’Hello Brother’’ is a movie made in Japan (maybe Korea). This might be the best movie that I have watched after “Life Of Pie” and “The Children Of Huang Shi”. This time I couldn't hold back myself, not to write about this movie.
Don’t want to ruin the fun of watching the movie, by telling the story. Here is something that will make you, to watch the movie.
The story starts with Hanbyul not feeling well. The elder brother meets a boy (Wook), who is going through the same situation. He treats him as his own small brother. He meets with lots of children going through the same condition. As Jang Hani does something wrong and wants to avoid the punishment from his mother. Wook takes Jang Hani to his house. They go to the mountains where, according to Wook, Tarzan lives. They reach to a place and stops for searching him. As soon as they see him, they run away. Wook couldn’t keep up with Jang Hani and faints. The Tarzan gives him some water and he wakes up. He takes them to their parents, who were searching for them in the mountains. They all go back and something terrible happens. Someone dies and something happens to someone. The movie ends with this dialogue” Wook, Merry Christmas.” A very tragic story and that doesn't have a happy ending….
Characters in the movie:
Hanbyul (elder brother)
Jang Hani (younger brother)
Wook (nickname little jade Buddha)
And other minor characters such as father, mother, etc.
Executive Producer: LEE Eun
Producer: SHlM BoKyung
Director: LlM TaiHyung
This is based on real character SulHee (15) and ChangHee (12) has been living in Canada. SulHee had to get 4 operations and he is still under treatment.

Most of people in Bhutan have mobile phone. With the increasing connectivity in the country the number of mobile phones keeps rising. To be able to communicate through phone, we need sim cards. In our country we have two providers of these sim cards. B-mobile and Tashi cell.
People need to recharge their account. And the most common for the postpaid costumers are from recharge cards and through E-load, which is a recent one. The problem arises from the recharge cards thrown here and there, therefore littering the place.
I noticed that the companies who make them are wasting lots of paper and ink. The size of the card can be decreases without compromising the size of the front.
While recharging through a voucher card, the company send a message saying “save the environment by using E-Load” (these may not be the exact words in the message).
Instead of advising others they should think of changing the way they make voucher cards. With the less usage of paper, they are reducing their carbon footprint. There might not be a difference in just one card but as the card increases in its quantity the difference can be seen.
If the companies could think of reducing the size of the card, as both the companies have same size of voucher card. It could make a vast difference. I remember that one of the company giving some type of reward for collecting the cards. Recycling the card can help the environment.

Help ourselves from Earthquake.

One of the most frightening and destructive phenomena of nature is a severe earthquake and its terrible effects. Earthquake is the major cause of many types of disaster such as flood, fire, landslide and etc. earthquake doesn't kill people, is the man made structures that kill us. If we build the building that could withstand an earthquake, this might prevent the loss of lives. If we educate people about the earthquake that could also save lives and remove panic among the people.
Bhutan is locates in one of the most seismically active zone in the world along the boundary between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. That’s why our country is prone to earthquake posing risk to the lives and livelihood of the inhabitants. It is important that we should be highly conscious and alert all the time to face any type of disasters. We might have to experience more such earthquake events and for that we need to be aware and always prepared.
On 21st September 2009, an earthquake

of 6.1 magnitude struck eastern Bhutan which destroyed a great deal of life and property. Many schools were damaged but we were lucky that students were on holiday of blessed rainy day.
A nationwide program took place in all the schools in Bhutan on 20th  September. The event ‘‘annual preparedness drill for schools’’ organized on 20th  September at 10:15 am by all schools of Bhutan carrying out earthquake preparedness drill. The main purpose of conducting mock drill on 20th  September was to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the 21st September 2009 earthquake which will help us be reminded of the past memories on disasters and to avoid us repeating mistakes.
Be mindful and alert as disaster may occur anytime. At hard times we should take care of ourselves and to whom we love.
Thanks to Leki Dorji and Chimi Uden of twelve science for helping me out in the compilation of this article. They are both from disaster club of our school and helping our school to be in the safer side of any disaster.
‘‘once you have been in an earthquake you know, even if you survive without any scratch, that like a stroke in the heart, it remains in the earth`s breast, horribly potential, always promising to return, to hit you again, with an even more devastating force.’’ Said by Salman Rushdie.

Neighborhood on steroids

12:56 PM
The place where I live is a clam, peaceful one. There is not much noise and hardly things happen. But today (17/09/13) something happened that I could not imagine in my widest dream. The place came to life as if the place as changed from a desert to a rain forest. It had an atmosphere of a party hall, music surrounding everybody. People having a great time and some people turned up for dancing. Mostly kid took part and they were having a great time too.
I was not there as the music was too loud for me. I watched the event from a distant. Viewing everyone was great although I could not watch it for a long time. The event stopped at around nine p.m., as everyone would be disturbed. Then the neighborhood turned to its normal state, clam and quite. The sounds of the insects are loud and clear, without the music taking its place.

I can’t believe that this is the same festival that took place last year although it takes every year. But last year something happened that shook everyone, literary. Last year there was an earthquake that shook most of the region in southern Asia. There was a terror in everyone’s face but today there is a smile on everyone’s face. I morn for the people who have lost their life in that earthquake.
